LWR’s Values: Gratitude

We are grounded in profound thankfulness for God’s gracious, self-giving love for all humankind, revealed in the redemptive acts of Jesus Christ. Gratitude marks the way we relate to one another and to all creation. Though our experiences vary, we view community as a gift. We give thanks for our wondrous diversity. We celebrate being alive. We abound with joy, hopefulness, hospitality and deep appreciation for the gift of one another (Psalm 136). LWR’s Values

This is a week that we all are thinking about gratitude and thanksgiving, but here at LWR, gratitude is a way of life. It is a mindset and a way of living out our faith.  I am so thankful to work for an organization that believes that God has blessed us with not just enough, but with abundance.  We give thanks for God’s overflowing love and blessings in our lives.  We see these gifts as things to share in the world and believe that, by sharing God’s love, it will grow exponentially.

This Thanksgiving, I give thanks for the spirit of gratitude that I witness among my friends and colleagues.  I give thanks for coworkers who call me to be a better version of myself, working to live into the calling of God on my life.

I am thankful for Lutherans who make quilts, donate money and engage in our conversation that helps LWR to grow and thrive.

I am thankful for LWR staff who work tirelessly to make sure that the work of LWR is top notch. They ground us in best practices, ensuring that we are making a long term impact that gives every person justice, dignity and peace.

I am thankful for our staff overseas who work on the ground to build relationships in their communities and help facilitate community transformation.

Mostly, I am simply thankful to work for LWR, a place that I find to be abounding in joy, hopefulness, hospitality and deep appreciation for one another.  May God overwhelm you today with self-giving love.

Happy Thanksgiving.
